Full job description

• A full-time permanent role is available to an enthusiastic person with sound agricultural knowledge on our Dairy Farm (‘M.T GIUMELLI & S.D GIUMELLI’ T/as J.P Giumelli & Son).
• Our Farm is in the beautiful South-West Region of Western Australia, only 2 hours from the capital city of Perth.
• We milk at peak 370 Holstein cows and have cattle ranging from young calves to veteran milking cows.
• On-farm accommodation, including utilities, will comprise part of the successful applicant’s package.
• A work vehicle will be available to use.
• We are located close to both private and government primary and secondary schools.
• This position is available to a suitably experienced senior dairy cattle farm worker. Sponsorship possible for suitable applicants.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Essential

• Minimum 3 years’ recent experience in a similar role,
• Valid WA or International Driver’s License,
• Strong understanding of agriculture, in particular Dairy systems,
• Experience in operating farm machinery such as quad bikes, loaders, telehandlers, TMR wagons, implements (mowers, hay rakes, fertiliser spread etc), and GPS,
• Low stress stock handling practices with attention to animal welfare,
• Knowledge of pasture management and grazing rotations,
• A willing team player with a positive attitude and desire to fit into the existing farm culture,
• Strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines and attention to the welfare of personnel,
• Superior ability to plan, prioritise and execute tasks related to that of a Senior Farm Worker,
• Ability to problem solve and perform well under pressure,
• Respectful and effective communication, both verbal and written.

Desirable

• Artificial Insemination Certification,
• Qualifications in agricultural related field (Agricultural College Certificate, TAFE Certificate, University Degree and/or short- courses all considered favourable).
