Lead Ranch Worker 1 – Rancho Grande New Zealand. The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held organization, with roots firmly planted in agriculture and agriculture-related businesses. SUMMARY

Operation of various types of equipment, basic mechanic work, carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, maintenance of ranch facilities, and basic livestock feeding and care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operation of various types of equipment.  Employee must have experience and working understanding of safe and efficient use of tractors, trucks, haying equipment, loaders, etc, including their operation during sub-zero winter weather.
  • Basic mechanic work.  Employee will be responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting and basic repair of heavy equipment, ranch fleet pickups, ATVs, and other ranch machinery as needed.

  • keep accurate service and repair records. Will be responsible for the purchasing and maintaining inventory of parts, tools, and other general supplies.  
  • Basic carpentry, electrical work, plumbing.
  • Employee will be responsible for maintenance and repair of ranch buildings including houses, barn, shop, etc.   
  • Maintenance of ranch facilities, grounds and meadows, including but not limited to brush cutting, dragging meadows, irrigating and haying, etc.  
  • Employee will be responsible for the regular and consistent care of several acres of lawn, including watering, fertilizing, mowing, weed control, pruning, etc.
  • Employee will be responsible for grading, graveling, and repairing driveways as needed and plowing snow in the winter.  
  • Basic livestock feeding and care.  
  • Employee will be responsible for feeding livestock during winter months.  
  • Must be able to recognize potential health issues and report them to supervisor.  
  • Ability to treat injured/sick animals is a bonus but is not required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Ranch Manager/Foreman.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of animal health and cattle conditions generally acquired with a minimum of two to three years related experience and/or training. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS Lead Ranch Worker

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY 
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

  • Must be a licensed driver of single axle vehicles.
