Position Title: General Labour – Sandblasting
Division: AGI MMS (Newton)
Location: 4481 Perth County Line 72 Newton ON N0K 1R0 Canada

The Opportunity

This role will involve sandblasting manufactured components and parts in preparation for our painting process. Other duties will include, but are not limited to, preparing and cleaning metal components for fabrication, assisting paint preparation by means of masking or cleaning components, and operating forklift to assist in moving components from sandblast to paint area.

Responsibilities

• Use of forklifts & overhead cranes to load and move equipment in and out of the designated areas
• Comply with all safety standards in place
• Operate and maintain sandblasting equipment
• Monitor and fill sandblast pot as required
• Use of hand tools including, but not limited to grinders, saws, strapping tools and other sorted hand tools to accomplish tasks
• Visual inspections and report of any visible imperfections (bolts, touch ups, irregularities etc.)
• Ensure equipment and tools are in good working condition within the area, reporting concerns and maintenance services when required
• Ability to follow and meet instructions
• Maintain and clean sandblast area as well the yard storage locations
• Keep work area tidy and perform general housekeeping
• Assist other departments as required, including but not limited to support in welding, yard arranging, paint and receiving.
• All other duties as assigned

What We Are Looking For

• 1-2 years of sandblasting experience considered an asset
• Previous experience operating a forklift
• Be knowledgeable of all shop Safe Work Procedures, and ensure that they are being followed
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment when performing tasks and cleaning tools and equipment which includes steel toed CSA work boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, etc.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
• Ability to work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, company rules, policies and procedures
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
• Have a valid driver’s license (abstract required upon hire
• Some overtime may be required
