Job Description
General manager jobs have been announced by a company called MTN Group. The focus is on leveraging the latest technologies and service providers to prioritise efficient emerging technologies, renewable solutions, and energy storage to improve efficiencies and deliver emission savings in the long term, whilst ensuring technology excellence to ensure sustainable outcomes for MTN Group.
Technology Infrastructure is responsible for providing group-wide leadership and innovation in the Net Zero, technology infrastructure in all OPCOs, PlatformCos, and Data Center technology domains through effective management of all stakeholders, including contracts and vendors, ensuring that the networks and facilities are able to support the long- and short term strategy of MTN through effective planning, design, and optimisation.
Responsibilities
As a general manager, you have to fulfil some of the given responsibilities:
- Manage and optimise the implementation of the Technology infrastructure strategy between MTN Group Technology, MTN Group Procurement, Mergers and Acquisitions and MTN OPCOs / PlatformCOs to maximise synergies, efficiencies as well ensuring best practices related to passive infrastructure are implemented across the Group
- Develop and position MTN as the thought leader in the Telecommunications space on Net Zero technologies and Technology Infrastructure
- Manage vendor selection and standardization for all network areas, whilst ensuring coordination with Managed operations and PMO team
- Prepare periodic performance reviews of industry competitor benchmarks to Group and OpCo/PlaformCo CTIO’s
- Develop and position MTN as the thought leader in the Telecommunications space on Net Zero technologies and Technology Infrastructure
Eligibility Criteria for general manager jobs
There are certain criteria that companies set to hire the ideal candidate for their company, which are:
- Minimum 4-year Academic Degree with honours (B Eng. / BSc Degree Preferred)
- MBA / Masters advantageous
- English, French and Arabic (as an advantage)
- Relevant certification/accreditation/membership with the professional body as required for the role
- Experience in management of Net Zero and Network Infrastructure programs is advantageous
- Minimum 5-8 years of Senior Management Experience
- Minimum 5-8 years relevant sector/industry/area of specialisation
- Relevant in experience/specialization in Network Design & Planning, ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance landscape), Data Centres, Passive Infrastructure, Vendor and Contract management
