Functional Summary

Reporting to the Area Lead, the General Labour position can be assigned to different areas such as flagging, guillotines, repealing of skids, clean up, etc. This position also demands the safe and efficient operation of any equipment or tools related to any of the above-assigned duties (chisels, sledgehammers, hammers)

Key Responsibilities for General Labourer -FT Jobs

The responsibilities of the General Labourer include, but are not limited to:

Equipment Operation

  • Operate any assigned tools or equipment safely and appropriately. 2. Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation-related duties as required.
  • Operate other saw plant equipment as required. (Grinders, Banders, Flame Torch, Guillotines)
  • Maintain and hand in daily production reports daily. Ensure not to run out of the forms.
  • Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all OSHA regulations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned and in tune with company goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.

Safety

  • 1. Promote and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, and sub-contractors to adopt safety as
  • a culture.
  • 2. Adhere to all company rules and regulations
  • 3. Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
  • 4. Report any near misses or incidents to management or the JHSC.
  • 5. Report any maintenance issues on equipment to the Maintenance Department.
Teamwork
  • Participate as a vital team member, and contribute towards the success of the organization, which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support as required.
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Education, Training, and Certifications.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent quarry experience in years.
Work Experience

  • Technical Knowledge
  • Training of what flagstone is during the job.
  • Training of what is required for the tailing of guillotined material.

Working Conditions
